Live Scan & Ink Print

Livescan PrintsThe St. Helena Police Department assists the public with providing fingerprinting services for pre-employment or licensing requirements. The Department uses a Live Scan service, which is a computer-based fingerprinting system that digitally captures the fingerprints and electronically transmits them to the California Department of Justice (DOJ) or the FBI.

St. Helena Police Department also assists with ink print cards.

Live Scan Service

Live Scan services are on a walk-in basis.

Please keep in mind that we are a solo dispatcher Police Department. The Police Dispatcher is your fingerprint operator, if they are busy assisting with radios and calls, they might request you return at a later time.

Prior to coming to the Police Department have the following ready:

  • Request for Live Scan Form (provided by the employer) completely filled out.
  • Valid photo ID, issued by a government agency.

Fees

DOJ/FBI Fees vary (Download the State of California Department of Justice Applicant Fingerprint Processing Fees (PDF))

Only the rolling fee will apply if your employer already has a billing number assigned by DOJ. If not, the fees will be collected at the time of service and forwarded to DOJ.

Rolling Fees (St. Helena Police Department Fees) always apply and are as follows:

  • $25/per application for person living within the City limits of St. Helena (see City Limit Map (IMG) for assistance)
  • $50/per application for person living outside City limits of St. Helena (see City Limit Map (IMG) for assistance)

After being fingerprinted, the operator will provide you with a copy of the submission form with a tracking number assigned by the DOJ.

Your employer will then be notified directly by DOJ of the results.

If for any reason, your fingerprints are rejected, your employer will be notified and it will be necessary to re-submit the fingerprints. If you were first fingerprinted here, you must return here, with your copy of the previous form and the DOJ notice that states you must re-submit prints.
